We are socialized to abandon our toys, our playthings, our dolls, as we age. For the general population, we abandon our childhood fantasies to pursue more concrete realities. Yet through the act of reclamation, we are given the opportunity to rekindle the childlike joy of appreciating our toys. Toys, whether experienced in your childhood or your present day, can become powerful vessels for divination—The journey of reigniting our creativity often leads us back to our childhood, our old toys then become artifacts and clues for us to unpack. As a result, the act of playing with toys can be akin to prayer. How can we recontextualize and reimagine toys as a divine artifact while also allowing ourselves to be fully enveloped in the experience of playing.
